Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – In a significant boost for martial arts development in Papua New Guinea, Central Province has officially become the 16th affiliated member of the PNG Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF). This milestone not only expands the federation’s reach but also pushes the total number of registered kickboxing athletes across the country to over 8,000.
The affiliation has led to the formation and election of the Central Province Kickboxing Association (CPKBA) executive board, marking a new era for the sport in the region. PNGKBF President Stanley Nandex extended his congratulations to the newly elected executives, emphasizing the federation’s dedication to grassroots growth.
This expansion underscores PNGKBF’s commitment to developing the sport at the community level.

New Leadership for CPKBA
The CPKBA executive team brings together experienced leaders from various clubs within Central Province:
- President: Chief Charlie Kubei
- Vice-President: Vincent Toliman (Mataungan Kickboxing Club)
- Secretary: Vilma Madangah (Beast Kickboxing Club)
- Treasurer: Allan Spenture (GBC Central Province)
- Coordinator: Billy Kevapo (Beast Kickboxing Club)
Chief Kubei expressed gratitude to PNGKBF for their support in establishing the association. “For years, we’ve been following NCD’s programs like a trailer behind a vehicle. Now that we have our own association, we can plan our own events and programs in partnership with PNGKBF,” he said. Kubei highlighted upcoming challenges, including preparations for a major event next month and the highly anticipated 2026 PNG Unity Games in Southern Highlands.
Expanding Kickboxing in Central Province
Coordinator Billy Kevapo echoed the excitement, noting the sport’s newfound prominence. “Kickboxing will now have its place among other sports in Central Province. We plan to introduce the sport to every LLG and community,” Kevapo added. This initiative aims to foster wider participation and talent development at the local level, aligning with PNGKBF’s broader goals for martial arts in Papua New Guinea.
The move comes at a time when kickboxing is gaining popularity in PNG, with federations like PNGKBF playing a pivotal role in organizing tournaments, training programs, and international representations. Central Province’s inclusion is expected to inspire more youth to take up the sport, promoting discipline, fitness, and community engagement.
