Decklam yet to secure a sponsor

Decklam and Korake in their fight in October.

Boxer John Decklam who trains under the Iron Chief Boxing Club coached by Kevin Baki is currently yet to secure a sponsor.

According to Coach Baki, Decklam who works during the day and trains in the afternoon doesn’t have a sponsor at the moment.

We have been working hard with John; however, he doesn’t have a sponsor at the moment.

We have sent couple of letters and even sent one to our Moresby Northwest member Hon. Lohia Boe Samuel and some other businessmen.

However, it all depends on when they will respond because of the current issues around the COVID-19 virus; otherwise, we are still waiting on responses.

Meanwhile, the professional boxer from East New Britain Province is preparing well and looking forward to face the current PNG Light Heavy weight champion in the 79kg John Korake in December 19.

Baki told the Post Courier that he is advising Decklam to not underestimate his opponent but must work hard to face his opponent in the upcoming tournament.

When asked about what plans he has for boxer Decklam, Baki said “Like the late Martin Beni always says, we want to make a champion in PNG before passing away but unfortunately, he died so early.

Now I am trying to train my boxer to aim for international tournaments; I am aiming for Las Vegas to have John attend to international fights.

He is a classic fighter so we are looking forward to send him off for some international fights with the world boxers.
