PAPUA New Guinea boxer Andrew Aisanga maintained a perfect start to his professional boxing career after he outclassed Filipino welterweight Mark Sales in Port Moresby on Sunday.
The six-round bout was on the undercard of the World Boxing Association Asia super featherweight title fight between Raka Kauko Jr and Filipino Roldan Aldea at the Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.
Aisanga used his height and reach advantage to win on unanimous decision.
Sales — known as “The Slam Man” — tried his best throughout the fight, but he was unable to get close enough to trouble Aisanga who was too quick for the visitor.
Rounds four and five saw 39-year-old Sales up the ante despite getting knocked twice, however, Aisanga managed to score more points and see out the win.
Aisanga said after the bout that he was thrilled to record his second win in as many professional bouts.
I am proud to represent my country and it means a lot to win this fight at home.
Many thanks to my supporters and sponsors for believing in me.
Aisanga
Meanwhile, earlier, dominant Joe Magaiva knocked out fellow local boxer Chico Emanuel in the second round of their welterweight bout.
