PNG Professional boxer, Andrew Aisanga is aiming to stop his first international bout in round six with a knockout victory on April 25 in Port Moresby.
Aisanga will be facing Mark Sales from the Philippines in their welterweight (69kg) undercard bout.
Their match will be the precursor to the main event featuring Junior Kauko Raka.
While Raka will be fighting for the vacant WBA Asia Super Featherweight title, his countrymen is fighting for honour and setting a solid foundation for a promising future.
The fiery boxer from Mekeo in the Central Province has had a successful run so far with a 2-0 record and is confident of adding one more win.
Known for his hard-hitting style, Aisanga’s two wins are from a unanimous points decision and a Technical Knockout (TKO) in the second round respectively.
I’m excited about the news of this fight and I’m aiming to stop my opponent hopefully by the sixth or seventh round.
I’m confident and I think I have what it takes to win this fight.
– The National quoted Aisanga as saying
While Sales will be his first international opponent on the professional scene, it is not Aisanga’s first time to fight on the international stage.
Aisanga is a former Papua New Guinea representative winning gold at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby and the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
He has also competed at other Oceania and Pacific regional meets.
Now 27, Aisanga has been boxing since he was 13 and attributed his father, Augustine as his inspiration growing up with the gloves.
He taught me most of what I know so this should be a good fight.
– Aisanga told The National
The PNG Boxing Council backs Aisanga’s campaign under the Oceania Fight Promotions.
They are also appealing to sponsors to support the event.
