Morobe Karate Association (MKA) will be hosting a selection trial for the upcoming PNG Games in Kimbe over the Queen’s Birthday weekend at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium in Lae, The National reports.
Association vice president, Sensei Rickinson Mekere said the meet would be the first selection for the organization and would be staged on June 12 – 13. He further said another trial would be held on the Independence weekend (September 16) at Mutzing in the Markham valley where final selections would be made.
Clubs from Bulolo, Wau, Markham and Lae are expected to send fighters to the event which will include kata, point contact kumite and full contact.
Sensei Mekere is also calling for clubs to start preparing for the event and to submit their registration fees to the association before next Sunday. He also said a coaching course on kata, rules, refereeing and judging would be conducted on June 5 at Lae Secondary School from 8am – 5pm.
