The Northern Karate Association (NKA) has affiliated with the Papua New Guinea Karate-do Federation (PNGKF).

President of NKA, Kevin Duna said the decision to affiliate was to enjoy the privileges of being a member with the national body which included coaching, clinics, seminars and competition.

Duna was also impressed with Northern’s team to the recent VI PNG Open Karate Championships held at the Ela Murray International School in Port Moresby last month. He was particularly impressed with deaf mute Roger Bogajiwai who won silver in the finals of his event.

Duna also said in order for the code to develop in the province, sporting politics must be discouraged as it has denied sportsmen and women from representing their province (Northern) in national events.
