The PNG Karate-Do Federation (PNGKF) Karate Technical Seminar ended on Friday 6th July 2012. The President of PNGSF Sir John Dawanincurra was there to officially close the seminar. In his closing remarks he congratulated PNGKF for successfully hosting the two weeks event. PNGSFOC was happy in assisting PNGKF with the seminar and its 23rd National Championships through the Grassroots to Gold funding. Sir John Dawanincurra was also given the honour of launching the new PNG Karate-Do Federation logo.
The seminar was run by Sensei Trevor Roberts from the Shotokan Budokai Karate Honbu. Sensei Trevor is the President of Queensland Karate Federation and is also an Australian, Oceania and World Karate Federation Referee. Sensei Trevor is a former Queensland, Australian and Oceania Coach.
Also during the day, the First Secretary Mr. Tim Bryson and Second Secretary Ms. Lisa Clutterham of the Australian High Commission also visited the seminar proceedings during its mock competition session on Friday. Mr. Bryson congratulated PNGKF Executives for submitting a worthy application to the Australian Outreach Program that enabled them to receive AUD $10,000.00 to assist them with the running of the seminar. He was pleased that PNGKF have actually applied the money towards what they stated in the application.
The President of PNGKF Mr. Carl Mari thanked the Australian people through the High Commission for their invaluable assistance. Participants came from Bougainville, Morobe, Madang, Manus, Eastern Highlands, Northern, East Sepik, East New Britain, and West New Britain Province.
Apart from the Australian High Commission, and PNGSFOC through the Grassroots to Gold Funding, PNG Power, Trukai, Paradise Foods, Ox & Palm and Digicel also assisted towards the events.
