President of the Papua New Guinea Karate-Do Federation (PNGKF), Carl Mari has stated that Karate is not on the decline as we reported in one of our articles [read here].
Mari, in a comment on the article, said that one of the federation’s strategies in promoting the code equally throughout the country was to hold its Open and National Titles in central locations like Lae and Madang as it would ensure equal participation across the nation.
He also said that ever since the Karate was admitted into the South Pacific Games in 1995 it has participated in all the games.
He also said evidence of Karate’s popularity will be seen during the PNG Games in Kokopo.
“This will be shown when Karate becomes the martial art sport to have most number of provinces participating in the PNG Games 2012…”
