Martial artists invited to kickboxing championships

The South Pacific Kickboxing Association President Stanley Nandex has put out an open invitation to martial arts schools to compete in the 12th National Kickboxing Championships in Port Moresby.

The event will be held on the 8 – 9 of March and will be used to select potential fighters World Championships in July in Croatia and the PNG Grassroots Games later in November at Kokopo.

The tournament will cater for 20 divisions with categories for ages 12 and above. It has also been confirmed that 9 centres have confirmed participation but the numbers of fighters they will be sending is uncertain.

Meanwhile the World Kickboxing Federation’s (WKF) Region Officer, George “The Dragon” Pergialis and WKF President Fritz Exenberger will be in the country conducting referring and judging seminars before the championships.

The tournament will coincide with the launching of The B-Team Project which will take place at the Gateway Hotel from 7pm – 11pm on March 7. Michael Jai White, Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock will also be present during this event.
