A three day boxing tournament will be held in Aipeana village in the Mekeo district of Central Province starting on Thursday (29th December).
It will be an opportunity to identify potential pugilists to represent Central in the upcoming 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain (ENB) and has attracted boxers from neighboring districts of Abau, Hiri and the National Capital.
Meanwhile Central Governor, Alphonse Moroi, has donated K10, 000 to the organizing of the event. According to reports in The National, the Governor’s First Secretary, Perai Manai, the administration has always supported sports and believes in exposing talents in the rural areas.
Tournament director and national coach Joe Aufa said it was very encouraging and an opportunity for raw talents to be unveiled. He is also calling on clubs intending to participate to call him on (+675) 72437282.
