Karate finalizes Development Squad for Pre-selection

The PNG Karate-Do Federation (PNGKF) is conducting its second training camp this year in Port Moresby on 22nd June – 5th July 2013.

The two weeks camp will also include a referee’s seminar during the last two days of the camp in preparation for the 24th National Karate Championships on 6 -7th July 2013.

Members of the development squad are urged to attend the training camp in order to prepare themselves for the National Championships since this tournament will be used to pre select athletes for the 2015 Pacific Games.  There are only 31 spots available in Karate in the 2015 Pacific Games but PNGKF currently has well over 80 athletes whom they identified last year for their development squad.  However, this does not mean new talents cannot be considered, anything can happen within the two years before the actual Games so athletes who are not in the squad are encouraged to attend the championships and any other tournaments in the future to put themselves into contention.

The Development Squad members are; Quentin Bougen, Gladys Wallace, Hillary Wasawa, Cletus Mason, Beverlyn Wasawa, Maldrain Makele (Autonomous Region of Bougainville); Domininc Sipapi, Junior Billy, Lera Kose, Dennis Kopman, Dalcie Masu, Miriam Stanley, Terah Efi, Rhonda Winarang, Geua Rupa, Ismael Stanley, Jarnoh Albert, Junior Chapau, Junior Smith, Brigith Kaka, Gima Peter, Naorie Joseph, Mckainne Kennedy, Geita Maraga, Jason Kilangit, John Kajona, Artson Goasa, Wesley Kilala (Central Province); Timothy Alovare, Llane Mununga, John But, Batshiba Nogo, Isaac Rim (Eastern Highlands); Victor Kisiani, Mixy Molai, Jerome Panganus, Ronald Wama (East Sepik): Winston Gawa, Jacob Tionnie, Isidora Vagira, Joan Abala (East New Britain): Andrew Mopio, Benjamin Gaub, Kut Kues, Joseph Okae, Jennifer Kautil (Madang): Jimmy Pius, Jeffrey Kumba, Dickson Minei (Manus): Jacklyn Barney, John Tarapia, Manu Mekere, Stella Young, Gesa Misak, John Watah, James Gaub, Randolph Mekere, Siwari Matus, Leon Wima, Simon Agi, Seby Desmond, John Sepanaia, Eddie Martin, Emil Golpalou, Jethro David, Monica Jeff (Morobe): Julius Piku, Nigel Bana, Doris Karomo, Jason Carl, Crystal Mari, Sarah Ande, Joancherry Revui, Annabel Joseph, Cosmas Saliawali, Robinson Gariadi, Billy Jean Kubul, Joan Konaka, Sailas Piskaut, Peter Dawa, Bernard Sinai, Visilin Saron, Peter Koralu, Melissa Turia, Violet Wangihau, Terence Rau, Tony Gorogo, Patrick Kassamento Chris Molok (National Capital District); Atamo Amani, Jemimah Soari, Steven Lugu, Taitai Mosley (New Ireland); Kevin Duna, Randol Hojavo, Basil Orere, Hubert Ogoheni, Jute Awasala, Asina Rocky, Mark Charlie, Selby Begin (Northern); Nick Mou, Enerst Nuli, Peace Kaiwa, Nathaniel Manua, Romana Sasinge, Alois Masusulu, Emil Palite, Rachael Loubai (West New Britain).
