Hayeu retains the featherweight title.

Manusian pugilist, Jason Hayeu, has retained his Professional Boxing Federation (PNGBF) featherweight (57kg) title by a convincing win over challenger Francis Oiake on Sunday at Sports Inn at Port Moresby.

Hayeu dominated the rounds which forced Oiake into a technical knockout in the third (3rd) round. Australian referee Brad Vocale had to stop the fight after an exhausted Oiake raised his arms in defeat.

Manus MP, Ronnie Knight, who also mentored the young boxer during his early days was also present and was pleased with the pugilist’s condition saying he had “plenty of petrol in his tank” even after the fight ended.

This is the young Manusian’s third (3rd) win from four professional fights and he said he had to make it convincing to show that he is ready for the international bantamweight fight against Filipino boxer Dado Cabintoy on November 18 for the vacant title.

The fight will be held in Port Moresby and will also feature Douglas Walo against Jonel Gandapan from the Philippines.
