Kyokushin starts preparations for PNG Games

The Papua New Guinea Mas. Oyama Kyokushin Karate Association (PNGMOKKA) is starting preparations for the Papua New Guinea Grassroots Games to be held in Kokopo in November.

Senior student and Kyokushin’s first female national champion, Alfreda Kurabi, said that training would gradually intensify to bring the students level of fitness to a competitive level. She said three months before the actual games, training would be taken to a next level and the students have to be prepared.

She also informed the students that PNGMOKKA had renewed its affiliation with the Papua New Guinea Karate Federation (PNGKF) and that students have to become full time members of the club in order to qualify. She said students also had to pay a fee of K50 to participate.

Meanwhile, training and classes at the club has resume normalcy after disruptions caused by the protests and in-fighting among police personnel in the last few weeks.
