Pro-boxing costly, says VP

A professional challenge has been scheduled for March 3, 2012 at the Sports Inn.

The Vice President of the Papua New Guinea Boxing Federation (PNGBF), Rex Kuman, has said that managing semi-professional and professional boxing matches is an expensive exercise. He said to accommodate boxers, the promoters needs the support of corporations and sponsors. He also said that our boxers have the potential to become world champions in the professional arena. However, they need financial backing to make that a reality.

Kuman said they had big plans for professional boxing in the country but money is a hindrance.

The PNGBF will be hosting its first professional challenge for the year at the Sports Inn on March 3. They have put up K20, 000 to fund the event which will see six bouts between our pugilists: Kevin Baki; Eugene Keto; Francis Oaike; Theo Torot; Douglas Walo; John Sam; John Deklam’ Chavis Kora; Vincent Kora; John Korake, and; Victor Lani.
