Great news for martial arts in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as the Host Organising Committee (HOC) for the PNG Games announced the list of 24 sports to participate in November. Among them are four martial art codes. Karate, kickboxing, taekwondo and boxing have been included in the games. The later has been categorised as a compulsory sport while all the others are optional.

HOC deputy chairman James Wong said the games will proceed as scheduled from November 19 – 30 and the official opening and finals will take place at the Takubar Sports Ground. He also stated that it was a huge task considering the huge amount of work needed to be done within these remaining months. However, he is confident work will be on time.
