On the 25th of September 2007, Silas graduated with his shodan in Melbourne under the watchful eyes of Shihan Cameron Quinn at Sensei Whitten’s dojo. He returned to Port Moresby and has been busy instructing students at the Papua New Guinea Mas Oyama Kyokushin Karate Inc. (PNGMOKKA) dojo at 6-Mile. He has an impressive list of achievements.

In 2003 he competed in the 6th PNG Open Full Contact Kyokushin Karate championships and came in 5th place. Later that year he would compete in the Oceania Semi-Contact Tournament hosted by Stone’s Taekwondo and took out gold in the senior men’s 65kg division. The following year he participated in the 7th Kyokushin championships and came in 4th, he was also awarded the most spirited fighter.

2005 proved a fruitful year for Silas. He competed in the 8th Kyokushin championships and was runner up and again awarded the most spirited fighter of the tournament. He also participated in the Morobean Open Full Contact Karate Championships and the New Ireland Provincial tournament and took first place in both events.

Silas’ achievements have not come easy. He has proven himself through sheer hard work and dedication to his art. He aims to achieve his Nidan (2nd dan) and hopefully open a dojo of his own in the near future.

Silas Gabriel Piskaut personifies the true meaning of Kyokushin and we salute him as a true PNG warrior. Osu!
